Save Your Life, the Fun Way.

Are you rolling your eyes after reading this article’s title? Doubting fun could save your life? Do you think I’m making up bold topic titles in a bid to get noticed? Maybe you think exercise has to be grueling, relentless and painful to be effective.
You’re wrong- fun really can save your life.

How many times have you or people you know started an exercise program, but all that happens is you can’t be bothered, get bored, see no results, can’t find the time, get injured, or any other number of things? I’m willing to gamble lots of imaginary cash that you know what I’m talking about, and thats why I believe its really, really… really important that you and I, your family, the neighbours, the kids down the street, and George W. Bush all get into an exercise program that is fun.

Still asking why I think its so important we all have fun while we exercise? Well, its mainly because I believe fun is the center of every living creature’s life- especially us humans. Everything we do revolves around having a great time. You can easily relate this back to your own life, for example, why do you go to work every day? Unless you’re one of the lucky amongst us who really enjoys their work, you go to work to be able to afford to have some fun. Whether that involves watching television for 5 hours every night (please stop doing that), or playing computer games all weekend (I forgive you), or saving for your ‘golden years’ when you’re going to do a world trip, your working days pay for your fun. If you still doubt that, think of how much fun you’ll have in the gutter, begging for a few dollars or lining up for food at the homeless shelter in the cold.

Now relate this to your exercise program. Why do you workout? Is it so you can lift large iron weights, or so that your lungs process air more efficiently? Obviously not; you’re working out to meet a need to feel better about yourself, or, at the end of the day, so you can get out and have more fun. I’ve worked out for many years now because when I was a teenager I was rake thin and had a horrendous posture from way too many hours in front of the computer. So, being a scrawny male, weighing less than my girlfriend at the time, I decided I’d have a lot more fun in the bedroom if I were comfortable with myself, and felt more masculine. So I basically started working out to get more sex. Don’t we all?

A more common story is the fairer sex’s goals to lose weight- again related to the bedroom, because they don’t feel sexy, don’t want to be seen naked, don’t want to go to the beach in a swim suit, and so on. They want to lose weight so they can go out and enjoy life more, and have a bit of good old fashioned fun without constantly worrying about how they look.

Finally, if I can relate another common story, baby boomers, and the over 50′s are going to want to remain fit and active so they can enjoy their retirements. What use is it working your whole life if your body gives up a few years after you’re done working.

“No world trip for you!” screams your body. Where’s the fun in that?

Examine your own life, just for one day, and you’ll find almost every small action you take throughout the day has its roots in you trying to enjoy yourself as much as possible. And now, think how much more you’ll get out of your workouts if you actually have a little fun while you exercise. You might not lose weight as quickly, you might not be using the latest and greatest fat vaporising upside down high intensity workouts, but I’m willing to guarantee that you’ll stick with it for the rest of your life, and not just a few weeks, months, or years.

Think of everything you’ll be missing out on, now and in the future, if you don’t include a regular fun exercise program into your life (or the life of your kids and family members). Fun can literally save your life. I’ll show you how.

Sounds great, I’ve had gym memberships and tried running in the past but I always slack off eventually. Can’t wait to see what stuff you put up here.

Cheers.
